BOK Financial Corporation (BOKF) NASDAQ: BOKF, based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is a financial services company in the West South Central States region of the United States. The corporate headquarters is located in the BOK Tower in downtown Tulsa. The company has six main bank subsidiaries: Bank of Oklahoma, N.A.; Bank of Texas, N.A.; Bank of Albuquerque, N.A.; Bank of Arkansas, N.A.; Colorado State Bank and Trust, N.A.; Bank of Arizona, N.A.; and the recently acquired Bank of Kansas City, N.A. .BOKF has a market value of approximately $3.2 billion USD as of the Q3 2006.

 

Corporate History

Foundation

BOK was formed in 1991. At its founding it had $2 billion in assets and operated 20 locations only in Oklahoma.

Expansion

Under the leadership of George Kaiser BOK began an aggressive expansion effort. BOK's expanison stratagy is to locate in growing markets near Oklahoma. Currently BOK operates in 9 states Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Arkansas, Texas, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri and Utah. In March 2007 BOK began operations in Salt Lake City. Also in 2007 BOK continued their aggressive push in expanding market share in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Currently the Bank of Texas is in the top 10 in DFW banking market share.

Sponsorships

BOKF recently acquired naming rights, at a price of $11 Millions USD, for the multi-purpose arena now under construction in Tulsa. The arena, christened the BOK Center, is scheduled to be completed in 2008.
