Boston Scientific is well know for the development of the Taxus Stent, which is a drug coated stent which is used to open up clogged arteries.

Boston Scientific's main competitors are Johnson & Johnson and Medtronic. The company recently acquired longtime competitor Guidant for approximately $28 billion. The former Guidant was split between BSC and Abbott Laboratories.
