It has ownership in Suttle-Straus a privately-held printing company, and TDS Telecom, a wireline telecom company with both ILEC and CLEC divisions.
TDS also owns an 80% share of the privately-held Cellular company U.S. Cellular, which is the sixth-largest wireless telecom service provider in the U.S. TDS was founded in 1969 with the acquisition of Central State Telephone company in Wisconsin, the first of many local telephone companies it would acquire. In 1983, it established U.S. Cellular. The company acquired Minnesota long distance provider US Link in 1994. In 2005, US Link was merged into the TDS Telecoms's CLEC division, TDS Metrocom of Madison, Wisconsin. |
